* G-Series joins i-Tech intelligent Technology line-up
Less than three years after joining the Domino product portfolio, the G-Series thermal ink jet (TIJ) printer will debut at interpack in a new guise.
Following successful launches of A-Series (continuous ink jet), D-Series (scribing laser) and V-Series (thermal transfer) ranges incorporating Domino’s i-Tech intelligent Technology smart features, the concept is now extended to include the G-Series TIJ range. Most significantly, the new G-Series incorporates a smart cartridge for fast automatic start-up and improved production planning.
The new cartridge facilitates advanced two-way communication between the controller, delivering a range of user benefits including automatic configuration and fast start-up, while minimising the potential for operator error.
One of the key functions of the new A-Series – the continuous ink jet counterpart of the G-Series – is the deployment of i-Tech intelligent Technology to manage ink levels and predict the consumables replenishment cycle. This is also now a feature of the
G-Series, with the smart cartridge automatically recognising inks and providing realtime information on the number of prints remaining.
The Domino G-Series delivers significant benefits in primary and secondary applications and is a popular choice for the pharmaceutical sector in particular, as it moves to comply with new traceability legislation – in particular the recently-ratified EU Falsified Medicines Directive. The ease, speed and accuracy with which the
G-Series is able to apply complex and serialised data, including 2D matrix codes, combined with clean operation makes it the ideal choice for the sector.
Of key benefit to manufacturers, is the G-Series’ ability to meet the ever-increasing requirement for improved quality and high speed printing onto an expanding and diverse array of substrates, thanks to impressive 600 dpi resolution and speeds of up to 300m/min.
Domino offers a multi-substrate, fast-drying ink, which increases the range of print substrates compatible with the G-Series, thereby opening up new application possibilities for manufacturers. The capability to quickly switch between water- and ethanol-based inks enables printing onto porous and non-porous materials and sets the G-Series apart from other TIJ solutions, which are typically restricted to slower-drying, water-based options.
The G-Series can control up to four printheads via a single controller, which offers greatly improved efficiency and performance benefits to users. Its advanced operating system works in real-time to process and queue up to sixteen codes in the print buffer. The result is a print solution capable of fulfilling complex coding and marking requirements simultaneously on four different production lines with different ink types – all under the management of one print controller.
